According to social culture and custom we all have occasions when we must say thanks to others. However the language is but saying thank you to our near and dear people and our well wishers through thank you notes is a great way to express how much we appreciate and honor them and their presence in our life.
Usually we write thank you notes for getting gifts from our guests on various occasions such as weeding, baby shower, birthday, retirement and many more. Though this is not a formal note or letter but still has some standard rules to write it down properly.
• Use a few sentences, not a massive essay.
• Try to avoid formal salutation. Use words like ‘dear’, ‘love from’ which sounds sweeter.
• Try to send the letter within a considerable time period. Late thank you note reduces the appeal of your letter. In the case of bigger occasion such as weeding, the time period should not exceed one month and in other cases it should be a week or twice.
• You can use different thank you quotes in your notes to make it interesting and touchy.
• Consider sending hand written notes instead of printed notes as it can really express how much you are meaning to them.
• Always try to mention the name of the receiver along with the description of the gift.
• Don’t spend too much time thinking and wondering new words and phrases for everyone as none is going to share their notes with others. So choose a few simple and sweet gentle sentences and write it down for sending to all.
• You can even manage a list of the addresses of the guests in any bigger occasion to make the note sending process quicker.
So just don’t mean it as a so called gift thank you note, consider sending it if you are really thankful and want to express that.
